David Beckwee

David Beckwée worked as a physiotherapist after graduating as MSc in physiotherapy (2004). Six years later, in 2009, he started his academic career, obtained his PhD in 2015, and is appointed as associate professor at the Rehabilitation Research group of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is steering group member of the Brussels Human Robotics Research Center of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, vice country-coordinator of the European Network on Physiotherapy in Higher Education (ENPHE), and he is member of the Education Committee of the International association of Physical Therapists working with Older People (IPTOP) (subgroup of the World Confederation for Physical Therapy (WCPT)), enabling the dissemination of study findings among international physiotherapy curricula.

Previously, David worked as a project manager for the ‘Belgian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics’, coordinating the development of a clinical guideline for age-related muscle wasting.
