2 - Job Description
The Rehabilitation Research Group is looking for a Lab Manager & Technician for the further development, management and technical assistance of a state-of-the-art movement analysis lab. The Rehabilitation Research group (https://rere.research.vub.be/) of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel is a fast-growing, innovative group that focuses on providing the best scientific evidence for rehabilitation strategies to improve the quality of life by optimizing physical functioning. In collaboration with BruBotics (https://www.brubotics.eu/) funding was obtained for the creation of an interdisciplinary state-of-the-art research lab on the Medical Health Campus of the VUB in Jette.
The aim of this lab (the BruBotics Rehabilitation Research Center, BRRC, https://rere.research.vub.be/our-lab) is to become a renowned lab for rehabilitation research based on technological applications and robotics in which both new developed as well as commercially available technologies are investigated on different patient groups.
In this position you will be the key person of the lab, working under the supervision of the professors of the management team of the BRRC and working in close collaboration with the researchers of Brubotics. We are looking for someone who is motivated and eager to learn. The ideal candidate will be able to fulfill following duties:
- Operation and maintenance of the test infrastructure and equipment (Vicon, EMG,force plates, US, …)
- Assisting academic research in movement analysis (teaching how material works for PhD researchers, external parties…; think along about the correct application of possible biomechanical and physiological research equipment; assisting in starting up and follow up of research projects)
- Management of the facility (planning, booking system, data management, renting system, …)
- Networking and communication (with partners from public and private sector, including UZ Brussel & relevant companies; communication via website and social media,…)
3 - Skills/qualifications
- You hold a Master’s or Bachelor degree (or equivalent experience) with a specialization in a relevant field (movement sciences, movement technology, engineering, physiotherapy, biomechanics, etc.).
- You have a strong interest and/or affinity in motion analysis and/or robotics and understand the importance of it in rehabilitation.
- You believe in the relevance of the technological evolution in healthcare, and you are motivated to contribute to this.
- You are self-motivated, reliable and result oriented.
- You have good communication skills and a strong organizational talent.
- You speak fluent English (fluent in Dutch is a plus).
- Experience with motion capture systems is a plus.
For this function, you will work on the Health Campus of the VUB (Jette).
